AUGUST KESSELER
August Kesseler took over the two and a half hectares of his parents' estate, established in 1924, at the age of 19 in 1977. With perseverance and patience, he turned it into one of the most important Estates in Rheingau, presumably the birthplace of Riesling and home to perhaps the most important Pinot Noirs in Germany. The 300,000 bottles produced annually come exclusively from 42 hectares of excellent vineyards, as defined by the leading German VDP. All the estate's Pinot Noirs are matured in barrels and all the Rieslings are given longevity thanks to their prolonged stay on the lees.
