Domaine Fernand Engel is the largest organic vineyard in Alsace, covering 65 hectares, with vineyards in ten communes scattered throughout the region, a veritable mosaic of soils and locations, offering a large fan of unique terroir and complexity of wine expressions. These include vines in four Grand Cru vineyards, such as Altenberg de Bergheim. Eight grape varieties are grown and approximately forty different wines are produced, including many sparkling, rosé, red and natural wines. Despite its relatively large size and the 15000 visitors it receives annually, the business has managed to remain family-run for three generations.
